AP Psychology Mr. Williams Brain and Nervous System Comic Book Project Many younger children are fascinated with the workings of the body and the brain. A major children’s book company has put together a division to handle this area of interest. You have been hired to produce a prototype of a children’s comic book to show to the editors. Your comic book must include: – Heroes and villains – An adventure that takes your reader through a tour of the brain and neuron systems – A neurotransmitter (can either be another character or a reaction, but it must demonstrate your working knowledge of how a neurotransmitter works) – One aspect each of: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, temporal lobe, the amygdala, hippocampus and hypothalamus – must include a specific structure and function (picture a giant switchboard-where are you?) – Corpus callosum must make an appearance This is a comic book, so besides the factual information (which demonstrates your working knowledge of the brain), it must also include some structural requirements: Must be in comic book form (Title box, multiple action boxes- more than 9, not including the title box) Must be illustrated with color Must have an appropriate title Must have a satisfactory resolution This is not an art project. You are being graded on your knowledge of the brain. Please note – you cannot receive an “A” on this project if you do not include every requirement – factual and structural. DUE DATES AND GRADING FINAL COPY DUE – Tuesday, September 26th, you will be reading your story to the class. The final copy is a major grade. The comic strip itself will count as 80% of the final grade, and the presentation will count as 20% of the final grade **This comic book will usable as notes for the remainder of the class.
