3.)(Respond back to post between 100-115 words)(ch.11) Choosing the recipient of an organ poses an ethical dilemma that has different, but not ideal for all, outcomes. Some people think that those patients who will benefit the most should be first, others believe age should be a factor and younger patients should have priority. A lottery method seems to give everyone a fair chance but may not be the most sensible approach. I would like to share with you an case from early last year; a coworker’s mother needed a transplant; she was very sick and had little time left according to her doctors. She was a heavy drinker, smoker and non complaint with medications and treatment. As a consequence, her condition worsened and was moved up on the waiting list to receive an organ. A match was found and she received the transplant, all went well, her condition improved and followed her doctor’s orders until she felt good. You would think that given a second chance at life would have her rethink her choices but unfortunately, that was not the case. Over Christmas time, she decided to start drinking again, daily and heavily. Should she have received that organ knowing her history of drinking and non compliance

5.) (respond back to post between 100-115 words) (CH.12) Page 297 discusses the different stages of when people think life begins. Some people believe it at conception and some believe it is when a fetus is developed ( around the 9th week of pregnancy). I believe it begins at the moment of conception. I am pro-choice though, I think it is up to a mother to decide what is best for her child and if that means her child not coming into the world, maybe that is for the best. It saddens me think about such a topic but my learning group picked this topic for week 5 so I have been thinking deeply about the issue for a few days.

I cannot imagine being pro-life and having to work in a medical setting where abortions are preformed. Has anyone experienced this? What are you thoughts? I would like to see what the pro-life folks have to say. I am not judging, but it will be an interesting debate!
