https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BsZt69B91Q Semester Project: “HRD During the Pandemic” (Due: April 28th; Points: 80) For this assignment, you will interview an HR practitioner (ideal candidate) or a manager, or an employee (which can be a friend/colleague/family member) about the impacts of the pandemic on HRD functions in organizations and write a paper with the results of the interview as well as your reflections (4-6 pages double-spaced excluding cover page, Font size 12). The purpose of this assignment is to help you think about contemporary applications of HRD knowledge and practice. It is essential that you critically examine how environmental changes impact HRD practices in organizations, HRD professionals’ roles, and individual workers. The interview should focus on the following key points, but can include additional questions if needed: Tell me about your organisation and your position. How has work changed for you as compared to before the pandemic? What have been some challenges you have faced in you work role because of the pandemic?  How have you overcome these challenges? What HR processes and functions have changed in your organization?  How did the pandemic impact your organisations’ training, onboarding, career development, coaching, mentoring, employee development practices? How did the pandemic impact your organisations’ other HR-related practices? What has the organization done well to help you during this time? What could have the organization done better?  What did your organisation learn from the pandemic with regards to developing human resources? What positive experiences have been generated as the result of adapting to the changes brought by the pandemic? The interview is where you will get much of the information for your paper, so your interview needs to be as useful as possible. Be sure to  Prepare a list of questions before the interview like the list above.  Take detailed notes during the interview.  Ask for detailed examples to help you understand your interview experiences. Conduct the interview online (preferably with a video chat) Record the conversation (preferably voice-only) with the permission of the interviewee. Plan for at least 30-60 minutes of conversation with your interviewee. Your paper will be the way to report and share what you learned during the interview. Your paper will include, at a minimum, the following (also see the Rubric on page 2 and 3): Cover page An introductory/opening paragraph Your findings from the interview A brief introduction of your interviewee. The main items you learned from your interviewee’s experiences (changes at work or organization, challenges, positive outcomes, coping strategies, and support).  The important lessons learned from this interview; what did you learn that you didn’t know? How did the interview change the way you thought about the pandemic’s impact on organizations and employees?  How do you connect your takeaways from the interview to class content and application of HRD practices?  Anything else you want to include. Other information from the interview Policy for Written Assignments Organization and Logical Development: Guide your reader with an overarching purpose or theme that is introduced in the beginning of the paper/project, developed in the body and referred to in the conclusion. Paragraphs should be linked to each other in a logical sequence using transitional sentences. Build a solid case using assertions, arguments, examples, facts, opinions and details cited from the literature to explain your point and lend credibility to what your paper. Clarity: Construct concise purposeful sentences to assist your reader in clear understanding of your meaning. Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling: Use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
