We have studied the three dominant theories that try to answer the question of what is really real, what actually exists. Those three theories are materialism, dualism, and idealism. I have also asked you to think about which arguments you have found the most convincing. Notice that the arguments sometimes challenge our common sense. Be open to new views and go where reason and the arguments lead.

Write a 2-3 page essay discussing and defending the theory which you find most convincing. Begin by discussing the question that is being asked. Next, introduce your favored theory and explain it in detail. Be sure to discuss the arguments that you find most compelling for the theory. Explain why you find the view compelling. Lastly, defend your theory by explaining how it is superior the other theories. Here, you might want to point out the deficiencies of the other theories.
