Generational cutoff points are not exact. But, social science researchers tend to label those born between 1996 through 2009 Generation Z. Why not Millennials? It is argued that Gen Z has little to no memory of 9/11, while Millennials do. And 9/11 was an event that had an effect on the political and social landscape of America. There have been many articles about Generation Z for the last several years. American Gen Z’s were “in line to inherit a strong economy with record low unemployment.” Then, COVID-19 happened.

Pew Research Center is a non-partisan, social research entity that conducts public opinion polling to generate data-driven research about attitudes and trends shaping society. Pew has updated its previous Gen Z research since the pandemic.
