After reading over both articles “Creating Welcoming and Inclusive Environments for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Families in Early Childhood Settings. (Links to an external site.)” and “After Parents Divorce, Regular Overnight Stays With Dad Are Best For Most Young Children (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.”. When it came to same sex-parenting I kind of understood it because I see it a lot that it mentioned happen. Often you do see same-sex parents spend more time with the child verse an opposite sex parents. I don’t agree with the article of the “after parents’ divorce” when it mentioned. “The result is the common custody plan where infants and toddlers whose parents separate only get to see their dads two hours at a time, two days a week. Hurriedly loading and unloading the child in the car and driving to and from dad’s home at the end of a work day hardly lays a good foundation for a comforting and secure relationship with dad.”(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

I say that because parenting can be divided within both parents. From splitting the days through the week to continue co-parenting to the dad being grated weekly or every other week. So it really depends on the agreement both parts and or the judge makes,

• Explain how you will utilize the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct to provide a foundation for working with the diverse family structures in the two articles you read.

The NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct I will utilize is building that support foundation and accepting all. Body language and face expressions show people what to expect from you. Giving them that warm parenting feeling all children look for, treat them like my own; especially when it comes to protecting them.

• Discuss at least two strategies that you will use to foster inclusion of all diverse family structures, so that all children will feel supported, regardless of their family configuration. Use one additional scholary source to support your discussion.

A strategy I know that I will implement is using that come/school connection. Find out what it is they like best to do at home and come up with ways I can make it educational into the classroom. And maybe at least once at the end of each quarter we can have a luncheon in the class and discuss ways to make education more fun. This way parents are familiar with each other and we want to feel comfortable and just share thought. Feedback is what makes a difference.
